Melissa is an administrator working on a second career as a facilitator, teacher, and writer. She has held positions in academic administration at Harvard University and Duke University with more than thirty years of executive-level experience. At Duke she held the positions of Assistant Provost responsible for all academic budgets; Associate Dean of Arts & Sciences for Information Science and Technology; and Special Assistant to the Dean of Arts & Sciences for Long-Range Planning. She now uses her broad administrative experience to integrate contemporary research across the disciplines for pragmatic results.
Melissa majored in History at Connecticut College, and holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Theological Studies, both from Duke University. She continues to provide comprehensive administrative services as a consultant, and teaches a variety of inter-disciplinary courses through the Duke University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
She is a member of the Rotary Club of Durham, NC, USA, and chair of the District 7710 Environmental Sustainability Committee. She served as chair of the District 7710 Luther H. Hodges Ethics Committee from 2012-2015. She is also Secretary of the Board of the Environmental Sustainability Rotarian Action Group, and a member of the Society for Organizational Learning.
